Intermodal Transport
Intermodal transport (intermodality) refers to the transport of goods across two or more modes of transport in a loading unit, such as a container, a swap body or a semi-trailer that can be picked up by a crane. In intermodal transport, only the loading unit is transshipped, not the transported goods themselves. Therefore, it combines all the advantages of the different modes of transport (e.g. road, rail, water, air) in a homogeneous transport chain. It is a subform of multimodal transport.
The TMS CarLo with the air and sea freight software CarLo inAIR&SEA is THE complete solution for mapping the entire transport processes, regardless of the means of transport. Intermodal transports in particular are displayed with all necessary documents and including pre-, main and on-carriage.
