Unitrans Logistics SRL impressed by logistics software CarLo
Soloplan’s logistics software replaces Excel spreadsheets at the medium-sized Romanian company and saves a tremendous amount of time as a result.
Since 2003, Unitrans Logistics SRL has been a renowned transport and logistics company with headquarters in Săvădisla, Romania. Together with four other companies, Unitrans is part of the Mendola Group, who market their products in the field of decoration and textiles via a network of their own branches. The transport company Unitrans caters to the domestic and international freight market, with a main focus on transports to and from Switzerland and Germany. Unitrans‘s 12 own trucks specialise in transports in the sectors of textile products (second-hand clothes, fabrics) and general merchandise.
They handle the branch logistics and transports of the entire company group „Mendola Group“.
Since January 2021, Unitrans have been successfully using the software CarLo for transport planning and have thus been able to significantly simplify the internal processes. As most of the transports are handled by Unitrans themselves and few are distributed to subcontractors, the add-on CarLo inTOUCH assists with the communication with Unitrans‘s own drivers. The add-on CarLo inMOTION handles the vehicle-cost calculation.
Along with Unitrans, more than 1,200 forwarding, transport and logistics companies worldwide trust Soloplan as their long-term partner. CarLo convinces all along the line
There are diverse reasons why Unitrans decided on Soloplan’s software CarLo. Thanks to a precise inventory, Soloplan was able to fulfil all of Unitrans‘s requirements with a function or an appropriate module. Additionally, Unitrans were convinced by the fact that Soloplan–as the Mendola Group itself–is a family-run company and the three members of the second generation already play an active part in the company.
„Since the go-live with CarLo, many aspects of our everyday business have changed for the better! We no longer work in numerous Excel spreadsheets as we did in the past, but rather on a central system,“ says Cristian Tutu, Forwarding Manager.
Thanks to CarLo, daily work at Unitrans is now entirely different. All transport processes are digitally integrated. The driver communication has been optimised so that all documents and status details are now specified directly in the system. Both the dispatchers on their computers and the drivers who work in the app are very happy with the software. According to Unitrans, they require 20% less time and are able to achieve a greater order volume with the same staff expenditure due to the use of CarLo. The software also gains points through the quick creation of statistics and full transparency regarding all required key figures–with only one click. The next planned step in CarLo for Unitrans is an even deeper integration of the live profit and loss control into Transport Planning and the automated evaluation of fuel-card information.
Thanks to the intuitive user interface and the training sessions carried out by Soloplan’s trained specialists, the implementation of the software was carried out smoothly and without noticeably limiting the day-to-day business. Zoltan Gundisch, CEO of Unitrans Romania:

Unitrans wants to continue to rely on CarLo in the future. New functions such as, for example, the integration of an interface with the financial accounting of the existing ERP system and the activation of OCR order management are planned. The further customer support will now be carried out by the employee responsible from Soloplan’s after sales team. This employee had the opportunity to take part in a personal meeting in Romania and become familiar with the current situation at the customer‘s location, and the project was handed over to him.
Soloplan accompanies the customer during the entire process, from the first contact to the CarLo go-live, and makes them fit for their transport management. Even after the go-live, customers such as Unitrans still have the opportunity to take part in numerous further training sessions, such as free webinars or taking part in the Soloplan Academy. The seminars in Soloplan‘s own in-house Academy offer customers the opportunity to gain an even better understanding of the CarLo software and use it in a targeted manner. In small groups, they can learn the basics of CarLo and get tips, tricks and insider knowledge from our experts. During these training sessions, Soloplan‘s experts can specifically answer users‘ questions. Soloplan‘s internal service department supports customers regarding all open technical questions with relation to the running operation of CarLo. Both by phone and via the ticket system–and in four languages. Depending on the service contract, support on Saturdays may be included.
