Soloplan City Continues to Grow! Ground-Breaking Ceremony for the New Hotel Above the “Illertal”
Kempten, Allgäu. On the “Illerhöhe”, at the “Berliner Platz”, the excavation work for the new Soloplan City Resort has begun. The four-star hotel overlooking the “Illertal” is to accommodate customers and partners of Soloplan GmbH, as well as passing travellers, international guests and Soloplan employees from the branch offices in Dresden, Poland and South Africa.
Last Wednesday, the ground-breaking ceremony for the new hotel in Kempten took place. Among other guests, Head Mayor of Kempten Thomas Kiechle, Dr. Richard Schießl, consultant for the topics of economy, culture and administration, and Gerhard Breher, managing partner of the construction company BreFa, were present.
The Soloplan City Resort is scheduled to open in autumn 2021 and will offer 38 sophisticated double rooms, a restaurant and a sun terrace. “I had the idea to open a hotel due to the large number of customers and employees who visit the Soloplan headquarters here in Kempten. We regularly train our customers, partners and out-of-town employees, and it was not uncommon to find that many hotels in the vicinity were already fully booked. With the City Resort, we plan to create a comfortable and uncomplicated solution for all travellers – no matter if they are travelling privately or for business purposes. Our employees will also benefit from the new building. With the hotel-owned restaurant, our guests and employees will have the opportunity to enjoy a healthy lunch and an à la carte dinner restaurant”, says Wolfgang Heidl, CEO of Soloplan GmbH.
With the Soloplan City Resort, the city of Kempten will receive new capacities for business and leisure travellers. The hotel will be located near the city centre and ideally connected to the motorway and the Allgäu Airport in Memmingen. “I am very glad that Kempten was able to lay the foundation for the future development of Soloplan in 2015 by selling the former district recruiting office of the German armed forces. The Soloplan City Resort, which is now in the works, is an important asset for Kempten’s hotel landscape”, says Thomas Kiechle, Head Mayor of Kempten (Allgäu).
The building was designed by the Kempten-based architectural office Gardoni & Mohr and, apart from a spacious restaurant with 150 seating opportunities and a sun terrace, also has plenty of parking spaces and conference rooms. The neighbouring park complex will round out the new 3,200 m² building at the “Berliner Platz”. In addition to the room capacities, the Soloplan City Resort GmbH will also create 13 new jobs and three new apprenticeships.
The construction company BreFa and the Memmingen-based architectural office Graf are responsible for the implementation of the new construction project. “We look forward to realising the Soloplan City Resort hotel project with the Heidl family, up to the point when it is ready for occupancy. This is yet another milestone in the highly successful history of Soloplan and a pioneering investment for the city of Kempten and the surrounding area. That is a great signal in times like these.” Gerhard Breher, BreFa Bauunternehmung GmbH.
