Siemens AG and UN Women Germany launch the African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI)
Last week, Siemens AG, UN Women Germany and UN Women South Africa officially launched the African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI).
On 31 May, the kick-off event of the AGCCI took place at Siemens Park in Johannesburg, South Africa. The goal of this initiative is to place women in the IT industry and empower young girls in IT, cybersecurity and coding.
Siemens also launched the SieMent EmpowHer mentorship programme, which connects female mentors from around the world with young women across Africa.
The celebration was truly a great success, and, with the gathering of female leaders in the industry, it is the first step in the right direction for young African women in IT.
A big thank you to Sabine Dall’Omo, Natalia Oropeza, Rita Nkuhlu, Elke Ferner and Aleta Miller for highlighting the importance of mentorship. A special thank you to Siemens for extending the invitation to Soloplan to be a part of such a paramount event.
